FAME INDEX

ABOUT

Hi, I'm Chris. I built the Fame Index because I wanted to know whether fame could be measured — not by gossip columns or gut feeling, but by data.

Every week, the index collects signals from across the internet: Wikipedia traffic, streaming numbers, news coverage, social media discussion, and institutional recognition. These are combined into a single score for each person, ranked, and published here.

The result is a weekly snapshot of who the world is actually paying attention to. It doesn't measure talent, quality, or moral worth. Just attention.

HOW IT'S BUILT

The data pipeline pulls from ten public sources across five dimensions. Scores are recalculated every Friday. The site is static HTML — no tracking beyond basic analytics, no paywalls, no account required.

If you're curious about the methodology, there's a detailed breakdown of how scores work.
